Purdue (10-9,3-3) faces off against Iowa (13-6, 2-4) on Sunday afternoon in Mackey Arena.
The game after, on Wednesday, Jan. 30, it faces its most hated rival. Indiana will likely come to West Lafayette with a top-five ranking (probably No. 3) as Duke, Syracuse and Louisville all lost this week. That’s if the Hoosiers beat Michigan State on their home floor on Sunday. Michigan will move to No. 1 if it beats Illinois on the road Sunday. Kansas will probably be No. 2.
The point is: The Purdue-Indiana game is the biggest game of the year with the Boilers likely missing the NCAA tournament this year. Purdue can end its season a little more happier if it notches a win against Indiana. The atmosphere on Wednesday will be electric.
But, Purdue can’t get ahead of themselves with an improved Iowa team coming to town. Iowa is going to be one of those bubble teams all year, so it will be ready to play. Purdue needs to be ready as well. The game on Sunday is a game that Purdue needs to win in order to make something like the NIT.
Don’t let the game against Indiana distract you from showing up against Iowa, Purdue.
